Jones has his say on Ledley transfer

Regarding Joe's move to Scotland: "We would have loved him to have signed for us but he has made his bed now and he has to go and lie in it," Jones told Sky Sports on Monday. "We wish him nothing but the best.

Jones says that City must now try to get compensation after Ledley's move to a different football association.

"We have now got the compensation rule and we have to try and get some money for a player who has been at this football club since the age of nine.

"We made the best offer possible for Joe. We thought he wanted Premiership football, but he has decided to go to Scotland. I can't knock that, that's his decision and we wish him nothing but the best.

"It's just sad that we couldn't have sorted this out well over 12 months ago because he's a Cardiff boy and I feel his heart is still at Cardiff and he would have loved to have signed."

Jones kept the light burning under the blame issue by claiming he was in the dark on some issues.

"There are a lot of things that went on that even I didn't know about," he said, "which I find hard to believe being the manager of the football club, but Joe has made his decision to go to Celtic.

"But by all accounts there was never an offer made, or a substantial offer which would have kept him. We did do that but in Joe's eyes it was probably a bit too late. He's not our player now."

Seems to me the best thing now is to move on. Get whatever compensation we can and wish Joe all the best. Dragging the issue out is not going to help anyone.
