Jones looking to add more pressure on Wolves

Wolves have won just once in the last 9 league games. At the start of the year thay had played the same amount of games as Cardiff and had a 14 point lead. That gap is now 12 points but they have played 4 games more. With other teams doing their best to drop points as well Dave Jones is pleased that City are going about their business relatively un-noticed.

"That's fantastic because we've been up there a long time, but nobody's mentioned us," said Jones ahead of today's clash at Molineux.

"And while we've missed games we've seen teams slip up a little and it shows how tough the division is.

"But it also shows the pressure that's there because when you're in the top six, teams up their game and to be up there a long time is hard."

Jones can sympathise with the pressure on Mick McCarthy and the ambitions of the Wolves board and crowd.

"Mick said himself they've looked nervous - and I've been in a similar situation myself before," Jones continued

"Don't forget, Mick's spent a lot of money, a good few bob, to try and go for it - and that's added pressure as well.

"I know the chairman and the chief executive there and I'll bet they will be sweating because they would have already set plans in place for Premiership football and now all of a sudden it's up in the air a little bit.

"I know because I've been in that situation - that's why I never take anything for granted in this game until everything's done and dusted."

If Cardiff can come away from Molineux with all three points then we will be looking at 4 clubs chasing down the two automatic promotion places and not the three that the media keep referring to. If Cardiff fail to get a result the gap goes to 15 points but still the games in hand will remain intact. That wouldn't be a disaster but of course winning breeds confidence and what better way that to go into Wednesday's home game with Q.P.R. than with a win over Wolves to add even more pressure to McCarthy and his not so merry men.
