Jones not naming names of summer targets

City have been linked to several players, the lastest Rebublic of Irerland midfielder Liam Miller and Motherwell full back Paul Quinn.

Jones though won't be drawn on confirming any names.

"We've made enquiries about some players like how much they'd cost, while we've also looked at free transfers and players who are out of contract.

"I've been making calls but the silly season hasn't started yet, the merry-go-round will start when all the managers return from holidays at the start of July."

Jones is about to lose Roger Johnson after the player was given permission to talk to Birmingham City . The clubs have agreed a fee for the centre half.

"We always have the problem of players leaving us and wanting to play in the Premier League," said Jones.

"I hope players like Roger stay but in football you never know. If players do leave we'll have to make sure the deal is right for Cardiff City.

"We've a reputation for bringing players in from smaller clubs, coaching and developing them to become better players.

"But unfortunately we're not in the division they all want to play in and the bigger clubs come calling.

"I think we're top in the division of developing academy players and buying players for £100,000 and within a short space of time selling them for big money.

"It's hard to keep building teams but every season I have to lose some players and then start again, and if that's the way it continues to be then that's what I'll continue to do."

"We'll try to hold onto as many players as we can but the club will make their decision. And, if we need to sell, hopefully I'll get as much money as I can to get as many people in."
