Jones: Play off hopes are over

Needing an extraordinary set of results to go in City's favour, it's just going to be impossible. City have not won a league game away from home in 2008 and they are likely to struggle tonight against a Wolves side with a points advantage over City and who only have a last ditch effort of make the play offs to aim for.

City of course now have their minds on the FA Cup Final.

First though they must be proffessional enouh to target as high a league place as possible and of course the players need to earn their Wembley starting places.

"I think basically now we've got to rely on a couple of teams losing all their games and that is not going to happen," said Jones.

"Stranger things have gone on, particularly in this league, but we need to chase down two teams who, if they get a point, have probably got a better goal difference than us anyway.

"Now it is just about trying to finish as high up the table as we can and an opportunity for the squad to show who wants to play at Wembley.

"It is as simple as that, they will be told that all shirts are up for grabs.

"Whoever performs well will get the shirt for Wembley. It would be a shame for them to miss out, because they have worked hard to get there. But they have to focus and show me that they want the shirt."
