Brown has ben linked to interest in both Joe Ledley and Ross McCormack.

"I saw Phil when he came in," said Jones. "If he wants any players and the price is right, there isn't a problem. The chairman has said that.

"Joe Ledley has a year left on his contract. Why should that make him any cheaper? We were offered £6m. Why should his value have gone down?

"Phil Brown did not mention Ross McCormack to me. And if I was looking at players then I would be looking at quite a few in our squad, including the centre-back (Anthony Gerrard) and centre-forward (Jay Bothroyd)."

Brown did not admit it was just those two players he was watching.

"There were a lot of good players on show, it wasn't just about those two players," the Hull manager told BBC Radio Humberside.

"It was an interesting game but we've not followed anything up."
