Jones: 'We've got to be brave'

Cardiff have lost 5 of the last 6 games with only two goals scored. The last month has been dreadful.

Compare that to the first 6 games of the season where City won 5 and drew the other one and scored 17 goals.

"We need the big players and the strong characters to start coming through," he said ahead of tonight's match.

"There are one or two whose confidence is low, so they don't make that pass or that run for fear of making a mistake.

"If your players go out fearful, they won't perform. You can't go through football matches like that. We've got to be brave. We have to find the consistency and the solidity again.

"And we have to get rid of this attitude that if we go a goal down, it's the end of the world."

The poor run combined with Champions League football on TV is likely to mean a sub 20,000 crowd tonight for the first time in the League at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Jones needs his players to focus and to concentrate.

"We're shipping goals early on and we have to stop it," he said.

"If it carries on, you have to change the players because they're not doing what is asked of them, it's as simple as that."

"It's annoying, because after a really good start, we've become inconsistent. It's one good game, one bad game. (Ermm Dave, 5 defeats in the last 6 is hardly one good one bad).

"When your confidence is affected, there is only one way I know to get out of it, and that's to work hard. And that doesn't just mean running around the pitch.

"That includes working on all areas of the game, especially concentration."

Kick off tonight is at 7:45pm. Plenty of tickets available.
