Jordan defends Davis and calls Ridsdale irresponsible

Jordan told Sky Sports News: "Peter Ridsdale's - and by the way, I get on very well with him - statement is irresponsible and I also think it is outrageous.

"I think Peter's assertions about Claude Davis' motivations, you can't speak about another man's intent unless you can read that man's mind.

"I don't think for any instance that Claude has tried to elbow the kid in the throat, I think it's unfortunate that he has caught him in the throat, but I think it's an accident."

Jordan believes that Ridsdale's comments were said to try and distract the FA from punishing his manager Dave Jones for his actions on the sideline which culminated in both managers being sent to the stands.

"I think it is more to do with Peter Ridsdale trying to ensure that his manager's conduct doesn't get brought to book so he doesn't get a touchline ban for what would be a critical time of the season," he added.

"I think it is scandalous and irresponsible, and the referee saw the actual challenge in the game, he saw the video after the game, spoke to us and said to Neil Warnock he was happy with the decision he made.

"So where is the respect for the referee's decision, because Cardiff aren't showing any."

The Palace supremo went on to say that the Cardiff bench should take responsibility for their part in the incident which sparked the touchline brawl.

"What I saw was the Cardiff bench being very irate at the time and then a lot of nonsense of going backwards and forwards," he explained.

"But what I've heard was very vociferous and very aggressive walking towards the tunnel and it caused a brawl.

"I think Dave Jones is a senior manager, he is not a young manager, he is a senior manager. I think Cardiff's conduct is reprehensible and I think Peter Ridsdale's smokescreen is definitive about distracting it from the conflict of his manager.

"At the end of the day, if I believe that my player was maliciously intending to do that to another player I wouldn't be defending him.

"I think it was a clumsy challenge but I do not think there was any malice whatsoever."

Johnson has spent a 2nd night in hospital and is hopefully going to be returning to Cardiff today.
