We’re absolutely thrilled that you love the statue – as we do. We feel privileged to have been given the task of turning the dream of a statue to reality. It is a fitting tribute to a true legend of Cardiff City.
Below are some of the comments we received by email, Facebook, Twitter, messageboards and other means:
“Saw the Keenor statute for first time today. Awesome. Post-match, in the dark, children were reading, staring & touching it.”
“Massive thanks to all those that have dedicated their time and their money to this cause. Things are changing, too fast for some, but this is a positive step. Maybe in generations to come there will be statues all around the ground commemorating our glorious, and not so glorious past.”
“The statue is a wonderfully striking addition to our Club in no small measure to the hard work of the Trust.”
“Well done to everyone who made this happen, especially the organising committee.”
“The statue looks very impressive indeed – better than I thought it would look, in fact. Neil Kinnock’s speech at the unveiling was terrific.”
“The statue is brilliant, a fantastic piece of work. It will be a fitting legacy to all who contributed so much time and energy to get it from petition to the unveilingyesterday.”
“Last Saturday saw the unveiling of a statue of Fred Keenor, a great Welsh sporting hero, at the Cardiff City Football Club ground—a statue that is there partly as a result of a contribution from the Welsh Government to the appeal fund. I was joined at the ground by my fellow association football experts Jenny Rathbone and Julie Morgan. It was a great occasion. It would be excellent to have an opportunity to debate the work of the sports council in helping to create the sporting heroes of the future in Wales.” – Cardiff West AM Mark Drakeford in aquestion to Welsh Finance Minister at the National Assembly.
And don’t forget you can join the Trust from just £12 a year at the office near Gate 5 or online at www.ccfctrust.org. We look forward to welcoming you as a member.
