Langston issue close to settlement

Last updated : 16 May 2008 By Michael Morris
Langston Corp took Cardiff City to court to try and win a summary judgement that would have meant the club owing at least £24m immediately and so threatening it's existance. Well Cardiff got the right result in court and have been working out trying to sort a deal with Langston over the monies that are owed.

There's no denying the debt is to be paid, it was the timescale that was causing an issue. The original deal was to pay it back by 2016.

Now Sam hammam and Peter Ridsdale have admitted they have been talking and a solution is close.

"There will not be any more problems. I am talking to Peter and we will sort it out," Hammam told the Echo.

"The future is going to be good for Cardiff City. Everything is okay - and I am so happy. We will sit down again and sort it out.

"It's amazing Cardiff are in the cup final. I'm so happy and I'd really like to see them beat Portsmouth."

Peter Ridsdale has also confirmed that a deal is close.

"Sam Hammam is the only representative of Langston I have met and I am in dialogue with him," said Ridsdale.

"They have made it clear they have no intention of taking it further and they wish to resolve the situation.

"We are pretty close to deciding how that will be resolved."

With this issue sorted, a new stadium half built and the Cup Final this weekend it's a great time to celebrate being a Cardiff City fan.
