Late goal earns Wednesday a win over Cardiff City

Fernando Forestieri headed Sheffield Wednesday to victory over Cardiff City at Hilsborough this afternoon.

With the game heading into the final minutes of normal time Wednesday's super subs Jordan Rhodes and Forestieri combined to earn a massive play off chasing three pioints for the home side.

Rhodes' powerful shot was saved by Allan McGregor but the Scot could only parry the ball into Forestieri's path and the striker headed the winning goal.

Cardiff are safe enough in mid table so there's nothing more than pride damaged and a frustrating afternoon for the 300 or so fans who paid £36 a ticket to leave Hillsborough disappointed again.

The bottom of the Championship took a massive turn today with Blackburn beating Nottingham Forest. It means Forest are in danger of dropping into the bottom three if results go against then on Monday.

Forest are of course the visitors to Cardiff City Stadium with a 3pm kick off.

So City face another team with much more to play for. The end result will mean more for the visitors but Cardiff have a duty to turn up on Monday and look to win the game for it's home supporters.
