Our next meeting has been confirmed as

Date: Monday, 13 January 2003

Time: 6pm – 11pm (Committee meeting from 7pm-8pm)

Location: Bayview Tavern, 166 Victoria Rd Gladesville 2111 NSW (02) 9817 2632

This will not be a full on meeting, just a few recent games and some beer and chat. A lot of people are away on holiday at this time of the year. Main reason for the evening is to have our first organising group meeting to plan the future of the club.

A few of you have put your hands up and said that you will be happy to be on the organising group. If anyone else would like to help with organising and hasn’t contacted me yet, please e-mail me prior to the day. The Organising Group will spend a bit of time that evening in a separate group discussing issues relating to the forming of the club, and how we should operate etc.

Apart from that, quiet chat, a few beers, and watch some recent City games.

So, either come because you want to be on the committee or come because you want to see some recent Cardiff games on the big screen: either way you are very welcome. There should also be a number of backpacker visitors from South Wales so let’s make them very welcome.

The publican, Brett, was really pleased with the way it went last time and his bar till has never looked so good for a Monday. Next time he’s promised to look after us even better, with nibbles and things.

How to get there:

By car. Gladesville is on the North Shore. If you are coming from the north or west head for Ryde and then get onto Victoria Rd. If you are coming from the south or the Eastern Suburbs you go over the Gladesville Bridge and then head in the direction of Ryde. Good parking in Cowell St opposite tavern.

By bus. Go from George St in the city near King St. (Close to Wynyard train station) Take X18, L20, X00 or X15 bus. It’s a 20 min trip. Ask to be put off at Meriton St. The Bayview Tavern is opposite Cowell St.

By train. Forget it. There are no train stations in Gladesville.

Videos

The compilation video from Wayne Nash should be here by then. Dave Povall (the guy wearing the Lennie Lawrence T shirt) who was at our December gathering is now back in Wales and he is arranging to have the video picked up and brought out by a mate of his. Should be here well in time for Jan 13. Also, Ian Golden from Wales who sent us a video for the last gathering will be here in person this time and is promising us he will have the most recent City games shown on TV back home including definitely the Bristol City game.

Thanks to those inter-state who donated videos, I’ll get them back to you asap.

Other news

I’ve written to Mr David Temme, Chairman of CCFC, and asked him how we can go about becoming officially affiliated to the club. If I get an answer I’ll circulate it.

It was great to see the Cardiff City Welsh Flag and the Porthcawl flag at the Sydney Football Stadium the other night. The flag holders were at our gathering earlier in the week.

Nice also to get some great e-mails from all around the world from City fans who saw the pics and recognised friends and acquaintances. We got a lot of compliments and kind words congratulating us on getting the club started.

We raised Aus$150 at our last meeting and this will be sent to the Cancer Society nominated by the late Phil Suarez’s partner. I am trying to establish which Cancer Society in Wales she would like us to send it too.

Cost

It’s a free evening,; you just pay for what you drink and what you eat. The place has a pretty good bistro-type restaurant.

I think that’s all for now. If you need to contact me please do so on 0409 491867.

Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Cheers

Richard (Sydney Blue)
