Laying to rest the Blackpool ghost

The time has come to end a dismal run of results at Blackpool's Bloomfield Rd Stadium when City hit the North West coastal town this coming Saturday.

In total the Bluebirds have played 28 league games under the gaze of Blackpool Tower but only on 3 occasions have we taken maximum points. 1920 in the inaugrial football league season City won 4 - 2. City went there again in 1929 and lost 3 - 0 but acheived their second win the next time they played in Blackpool and that was 24 years later in 1953.

After the 2 - 1 win in 1968 City then lost on the next 11 visits until a 1 - 1 draw was secured in 1991. Last season City were a class apart but ending up drawing 1 - 1. The season before saw a 1 - 0 defeat and it was a 2 - 2 draw in the 1999 - 2000 season.

With City at the top of the table and unbeaten away from home in the league since February there can be no better time to break the awful run, take note though, Blackpool have won their last three home games and are unbeaten in their refurbished Stadium this season. 4 wins and 2 goalless draws from the 6 games played so far.

Tickets are still available from the ticket office at Ninian Park (0845 345 1400) with many fans staying over to enjoy the delights of the Golden Mile, the Pleasure Beach and the last weekend of the illuminations.
