Lennie looking to pay off Maxwell

The former Liverpool and Wales U21 midfielder was told in the summer to find another club but he stayed at Ninian Park and vowed to stake a claim for a place in the team.

Since the start of the season Maxwell's chances have been limited. He came off the bench in the opening game of the season at Rotherham and played in the Carling Cup win over Orient but has not seen any first team action since.

Maxwell has never really shone for Cardiff City and now it appears Lennie wants him away from Ninian Park well before his contract expires next summer.

Lennie is in discussions with the player to pay off his contract and thereby end the relationship by mutual consent.
