City on the attack.
22nd July.

LENNIE Lawrence has stepped up his chase for a new attack leader to avert a striker crisis threatening Cardiff City's return to Division One.

Both Peter Thorne and Gavin Gordon are injured and Bluebirds manager Lawrence will have to act quickly. He may even step up the bid for Spurs defender Gary Doherty and give the Irishman an attacking role at the start of the season.

First-choice Thorne missed City's pre-season tour to Scandinavia after being kicked on the foot in training and is having a scan on the injury today.

He won't be fit for Saturday's pre-season match at Cambridge United and is in real danger of missing the opening Nationwide League clash at Rotherham United on August 9.
