Lennie Lawrence has won the January Manager of the Month Award. City were unbeaten in the league during January with 3 wins and a draw.

City ended 2004 in 21st place in the table. Level on points with the relegation zone but during January the club has lifted itself to 19th place and more importantly a 5 point cushion has emerged between City and Gillingham, who are currently occupying 22nd place.

"I'm pleased to have got this, it shows the progress we've made in the last few months," he told the official website www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk

"Usually when a manager gets given the award his side loses the next match, but we are going to West Ham on Sunday with plenty of confidence."

Lawrence took the honours ahead of

Mark McGhee - Brighton
Billy Davies - Preston
Craig Levein - Leicester

Congratulations to Lennie.
