Loan watch 090815

C:WindowsTempphp90C0.tmpSurely I'm not the only one still trying to catch my breath after the excitement of last season's Belgian relegation play offs. Only four players out on loan for now, down from around fifteen at one point earlier in the year. Some players have moved on for good, some released, some have returned to the club and some died when a gas canister hit a helicopter which then crashed into a wedding party (or was that Emmerdale?).

Tom Adeyemi played the full 90 minutes for Leeds as they drew 1-1 with Burnley and Adam le Fondre came on in injury time as Wolves won at Blackburn. David Tutonda's first game for Newport last season was a 2-1 win at Wycombe and he returned there yesterday for his first game with York but no such luck this time. York's twitter feed helpfully pointed out that York were kicking from left to right in the first half and from right to left in the second. If that was being tweeted from behind the goal then it might explain why York lost 3-0. Tutonda was subbed after 78 minutes.

Deji Oshilaja seems to have started this season where he left off last as Gillingham beat Sheffield United 4-0. A goal as well as a clean sheet for Deji, an excellent start. A couple of other City links at Gillingham; David Kerslake is their assistant manager and defender Aaron Morris was with us as a youngster and made one league appearance in 2010. Also, they are managed by Justin Edinburgh who used to live next door to my nan but that's not entirely relevant here.

Of our ex-players, Michael Chopra signed a new one year deal with Alloa and came on in their 3-1 defeat yesterday while Ben Nugent started his Crewe career with a clean sheet as they drew 0-0 with Port Vale. Interesting to see Nugent and Oshilaja playing at the same level this season. They were our DVP centre halves in 2012-13 and when Malky needed to call one of them up to the first team he chose Nugent. He never let us down but I wonder how things would have panned out for Deji if he'd been the one selected instead back then.
