Loan watch

C:WindowsTempphp906E.tmpMatt Connolly conceded his first goal as a Watford player and it handed the title to Bournemouth who won 3-0, Kenwyne Jones came on as a late sub. Adam Le Fondre played in Bolton's loss to Birmingham.

No game for Declan John. Rhys Healey didn't get on for Colchester as they escaped relegation with a late winner but Tommy O'Sullivan played the second half in Port Vale's home defeat to Fleetwood. David Tutonda and Deji Oshilaja played the ninety minutes as Newport lost and AFC Wimbledon drew their last games.

Filip Kiss came on late in Ross County's 1-1 draw, KTC's St Etienne had a costly 1-0 defeat, Javi Guerra played the second half for Malaga. He won a penalty, which was missed, then scored late on as they lost 2-1. Etien Velikonja's Lierse start a four team, six game, play off on Thursday to try and retain their top division spot.

Plenty of goals for our former players including Conway, Gestede (of course), Miller, JET, Chopra, Wildig, Eikrem and Berget. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink led Burton to the League Two title.

As their loan spells come to an end I assume most players are as unsure as we are as to where they'll be next season, it should be an interesting few months coming up. Until the football starts again anyway. While some players will look back on their time away as a success, others will be frustrated. There seems to be a lot of luck involved, Josh Yorwerth and Brad Williams couldn't have picked a worse time to go to Hereford for example, while injury has hampered others. I don't think any of our players have failed completely, even Ben Nugent and Danny Johnson had their loans extended so must have made some kind of impression.

Kevin Theophile Catherine has to go down as the best of the bunch. He's made 37 appearances for a strong St Etienne side who have the second best defensive record in Ligue 1. Of the youngters, Deji Oshilaja seems to have impressed the most although David Tutonda has set a great example to anyone who gets thrown a chance to play league football. He not only took the bull by the horns but ran with it and slam dunked it too. (Excuse the mixed metaphor).

Who's been the ex-player of the season? Gestede and Parkin have scored loads, Schmeichel and Heaton have saved loads, Hasselbaink and Moore have done great jobs at either end of League 2. There are probably other contenders too but a win on June 12 will surely give it jointly to Ramsey, Gunter, Ledley and Collins. Good luck to them.
