Loovens: The side is confident

Speaking after the win at Southend yesterday Glenn gave his views on the current team and the confidence they have.

"There's a lot of confidence in the side and we have to keep that going. We have to keep working hard, but the spirit in the side is very strong," said Loovens.

"If you are top after nine or 10 games, why shouldn't you go for it? Every game we go into now we want to win. If you go onto the pitch with that attitude you do get the feeling that you can stay at the top. There's no reason why not really.

"But we know every game in this division is tough. I haven't played in any games where things were easy."

Speaking about the game itself the giant Dutch defender said

"It was quite a hard game for us. They made it difficult, but they did give us a lot of space and we used it well.

"When we got the goal just before half-time it gave us a real confidence boost.

"It was a good time to score and it was a great boost. A second goal makes things easier, but we said to each other that we had to keep working hard and that's what we did in the second half."

"We can play and work hard and that's a good mix. We keep the ball much better now. We can find each other well now, I think that's the biggest point.

"Also, looking back to last season, we conceded a lot of unnecessary goals and I think that's different now. The defence begins from up front really. I think it's that we're better as a team and that's helped us at the back a lot."
