Cardiff's newest recruit will be registered on Friday aloowing him to play against Huddersfield on Saturday and allowing him to be able to play in the penultimate league game against Wigan.
Mahon loan spells last for 93 days from registration.
Lennie did not want to throw him on the bench tonight with no prior knowledge of his team mates but he will train with the Bluebirds on Thursday and Friday and be available for selection on Saturday.
