Manager comments as Cardiff hammered at home

Neil Warnock

"The circumstances weren’t right, (with it being the first game without Jose Mourinho) but we’ve had that before. But you can’t blame that. I thought we started the game quite well, but it was an iffy free kick, probably a Sunday League goal.

"The penalty killed us, it wasn’t a penalty though. He put his foot into the mix, but it’s not a penalty in a million years. But I thought the ref did well today.

"Having said all that - and the lads are flat - but if you’d told me we’d be out of the bottom 3 at Christmas, I’d have snapped your hand off.”

"I’m sure Palace and Leicester will be rubbing their hands with glee at playing Cardiff City, but you never know.

"You can’t blame Aron Gunnarsson, you can’t blame anybody. I took Arter off because I wanted to give Ken Zohore 30 minutes.

"It was nice to see the 'new signing' Zohore play today. He looks more like himself than previous weeks. I’m hoping Zohore helps the search for a striker in January, he needs to train like he has done in the next three weeks and give me something to think about."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on his players

"They are good players, very, very good players, talented players.

"I'm pleased with all of them, every single one of them.

"When you've got Martial and Jesse Lingard down either side, Rashford up top with Paul [Pogba] supporting them, it's exhilarating to watch and as long as we keep that standard up we'll keep picking up points.

"We'll take one game at a time but we're eight points behind and we've caught up teams before at this club."
