"They kept defending and showed a lot of steel, they fought so much that they deserved a goal.

"We had a brilliant first half, our passing and movement was so incisive.

"It was more of a struggle after the break, but we stayed organised until a nervy final five minutes and deserved the win."

"I've told my team they can be proud of the performance but it's still a bitter pill to take.

"The players didn't give up and had a right go, with a bit more luck we might have got the equaliser.

"Cameron Jerome got his goal late on, but he had a great chance in the first minute. He has to learn that lesson as he progresses to the highest level.

"We let ourselves down in the first 20 minutes but, after that, we showed a lot of determination and grit.

"I hate losing, but it's about the manner that you lose. None of the players let themselves down as we were playing one of the best teams in Europe and we had a go."
