"I said at half-time that the priority now was to keep a clean sheet and although I certainly would have liked a third goal I am more than happy with the result.

"In fairness to Brighton they changed tactics and threw bodies forward in the second half but considering all our international calls this week the players responded magnificently.

"Victory over Millwall in our next match should finally dispel all talk of relegation.

"We shouldn't be below Brighton in the table and at the end of the season I am sure we won't be, but they have still done tremendously well on very little resources."

"The penalty was a fair decision as our player did lean on him a bit after getting caught on the wrong side and the game itself was finished when they went 2-0 up.

"The shape we started with didn't cope with Cardiff's width and I was about to change things around when that second goal went in.

"We improved a bit in the second half but in truth they were always comfortable.

"We still have a lot of work to do in order to stay in this division but I'm sure we have four wins in us and that is all I reckon we need."
