On Dagenham and Redbridge

"Every time we moved it around we caused them problems but when we slowed it down they got into us and full credit to them.

"We have had Dagenham watched several times and they are a much improved side and they came here and put up a good show."

On the squabble between Michael Chopra and Jay Bothroyd when Bothroyd's poorly taken spot kick was ordered to be retaken

"I have no problem with Michael Chopra wanting to take the penalty from Bothroyd after the referee ordered a retake.

"Bothroyd's first attempt was very poor and I would expect every other player to want to take it, not just Chopra."

On the match in general

"We made it difficult for ourselves at the end because we should have scored more goals, it was just sloppy from us to let them back in.

"It is nice to win but we're always looking for perfection and we were a bit disappointed by the way we moved the ball and every time we did move the ball quickly, we created chances and that is how our goals came.

"We should have been able to throw more kids on but because we weren't in a comfortable position, the senior pros had to stay on the pitch.

"I said to the boys at half-time don't give them any hope and give don't let them back in, then they go and do it.

"But a lot of teams from our division would have gone out today and we had to make sure we were not one of them. We could have done better but we are pleased to get the win."

Dagenham manger John Still was very proud of the performance of his side.

"We played very well throughout but in the second half we were much the better side.

"Both of my central midfield players came from non-league football but they dominated the game.

"Roberts was very proud to be captain tonight on his return to Wales and he kept us in the game with a number of fine saves."
