"It was a disappointing 90 minutes and we didn't do enough to win the game.

"We had one corner which ended with a header on goal but most of the time we had no control whatsoever.

"The referee deemed the challenge by Purse to be a goal-scoring opportunity but there were two other defenders in there with him.

"Some of the referee's decisions were baffling but it is not his fault that we lost.

"It's a long time since I was so unhappy about a performance although defensively we were good enough unfortunately today we did nothing anywhere else and that is very frustrating.

"It was a bad day. We have been beaten but at least we can put that right in two days' time."

Tony Pulis

"We started well and had a few opportunities but once we scored I thought there was only going to be one winner.

"We still need one or two into the club but the players were magnificent throughout the match.

"We worked hard all week on ways of preventing Jason Koumas getting a free rein as he is the catalyst for most things in this Cardiff side and it worked very well.

"I didn't see the offence that brought about the penalty but I understand that their player pulled our man back.

"It was good to come home to Wales and win and my mother was here along with a dozen or so members of the family.

"We will enjoy this win but now look forward to our next match against Preston."
