On Southamptons goal....

"That goal took the wind out of our sails and we were forced to battle it out. It was a well deserved but very hard fought victory.

"After gifting them a goal we had to dig deep, particularly in the second half, but all the players came through."

On an anxious time in the transfer window and Cameron Jerome....

"It will be even more anxious for my chairman.

"Every footballer has his price and if a Premier club comes calling it is very difficult to keep hold of any young player, particularly someone like Cameron Jerome.

"I would prefer to add to the squad but to do that I may have to let one or two players go as I will need to generate money in order to spend."

George Burley

"I had no defenders on the bench. I've had three games in a week since taking over the job so I am still looking at ways to improve the side.

"We have a number of players out injured and naturally we are disappointed to lose. But we must take whatever positives we can out of the game.

"After looking shaky in those opening 15 minutes we settled down although we still didn't do enough to win the game.

"We have some very good young players at this club and when our experienced men return we can assess more readily what is required.

"The club needs some stability and I'm looking forward to the challenge."
