Ray Lewington (on not being given a penalty after an apparant handball by Jobi McAnuff)

"I can't hide behind the referee's decision or the lack of it. We did not get enough shots on target and we didn't get the final touch. We can't blame the referee for that.

"Once again the players gave everything in effort and never stopped trying but they need a break and possibly the penalty, which they all feel very strongly about, could have been the break they needed. Even so I don't think it would take much to turn this around."

Lennie Lawrence (in reply)

"I know I will be accused of doing an Arsene Wenger but I honestly did not see it.

"If he did handle the ball and we got away with it then it's no more than we deserved. We haven't had too much luck in either penalty area all season.

"Watford have found goals difficult to come by recently but they do put you under pressure quite well.

"We commanded the first half and Watford dictated the second half. We had a few half chances but failed to score and we really needed to score in that first half. Had we done that we would have gone on and won the game but, as it was, they forced us onto the back foot in the second half and we were hanging on towards the end."
