Manager's post match Barnsley reaction

"We set a target for him. After 65 minutes our physio wanted to bring him off but Craig wanted to carry on. That made my decision a lot easier.

"He has got to keep to his programme and he feels comfortable with it. He had that when he came to us. He punished himself too much in the pre-season."

"We knew it was going to be difficult and we also knew that it was going to be a tough, tough game," added Jones.

"The referee was consistently poor. He red-carded Darcy but didn't do anything when their full-back took Bellamy out.

"The first goal was top quality. It was a great move to play it back to Craig who placed the ball in.

"We had to battle in the second half to get the points. We should have finished them off earlier. The penalty save gave Barnsley a great lift, but to score straight afterwards was important for us."

Barnsley boss Mark Robins saw his side nearly snatch a point but a stunning save from Tom Heaton kept them out.

"It was almost a decent performance," said Robins.

"The keeper made a good save, Adam scored a goal like that in the last game against Derby and I think Cardiff would have been disappointed if that had gone in.

"It was waiting for someone to light the blue touchpaper and go and win it," reflected Robins. "Unfortunately for us it was Craig Bellamy for them. The first shot they've (Cardiff] had hits the back of the net."
