Managers quotes after City v Millwall

Lennie Lawrence

"It was an indifferent display of refereeing. If James had raised his arms or thrown a punch I would fine him. But I've seen the incident on video and he's guilty of the most innocuous push.

"But he was right to get the yellow card and, because he had been booked earlier, he had to go. I thought the red card for Dunne was incredibly harsh. That should have been a booking.

"The red card for Livermore looked spot-on to me. His was the most serious offence. There were only a couple of minutes to go but any chance we had of getting a point disappeared with that melee.

"We may as well have come off the pitch when the melee started."

Ray Wilkins (Wise's No.2)

"The red cards marred what was a good performance.

"Dennis was sent off. There was a lot of frustration on the touchline and he threw a water bottle at the floor and it bounced up and hit the assistant referee. We will study the video before deciding to appeal or not.

"I think the whole thing looked worse than it was because a lot of players were involved."
