Managers quotes after Wycombe victory

"We started well and were even brighter in the second half. But we needed the ball to run kindly for us in their penalty area. Fortunately for us, it did. In fairness to Wycombe, our goalkeeper made several crucial saves when they looked dangerous on the break and he deputised for Neil Alexander very well. Our last home game against Crewe was a good match but this was a grind from start to finish. It's important that we are now back on top of the table and now we are there we must keep our noses in front. We have the squad so we must also have the conviction to stay top and end up as champions.''

"We had enough chances in the second half and to be fair we had one or two chances in the first half to score a goal and if we would have got in the lead, I'm pretty sure we would have brought it home - we didn't - and a piece of quality from a million pound player has won them the three points but the lads are bitterly disappointed.

"I think that is probably one of our best away performances this season and they deserved more than they got but that is football, at times it can be cruel. If we perform like that for the rest of the season, I think we'll be alright. I thought we played very well, tactically I thought we sorted it out. After we sorted out Weston and stopped him from getting forward, we pretty much locked-up the middle of the field. I think that we were as good as, if not better, than Cardiff in most departments.

"It was only to be fair when Simpson made it out of the middle of the field, that it opened up for Kavanagh to get a bit of space and have a run at our defence. He was very fortunate, we blocked the first shot and it bounced straight back to his foot - that's sod's law and he's added that quality to put in the goal. Cardiff are at home and an expensively put together team, they've got thirteen thousand people shouting and it's not hard for them to keep going under those circumstances

Cardiff are a top side and with Wigan I think they'll both go up automatically. It's the second time we've come here in a row, played really well and ended-up getting done 1-0."
