"They started brightly and we took our time getting going but once again we have been caught out by abysmal defending. "When we stop making mistakes at the back we will show an improvement.

"A replay would have been a step forward for us but we have been punished for one moment of madness.

"Confidence diminishes when you go a goal down but in all honesty we didn't look like scoring even when we chased the game late on."

Neil Warnock

"We made hard work of it in the first half-hour when we missed several chances.

"It was a good Cup tie settled by a good header from a great cross. I love coming to places like Cardiff for the Cup as the fans here are fantastic and it is always a great atmosphere.

"We worked hard today, and Cardiff made sure that we had to, and it looked as though a goal was not going to come but the Cup is all about taking chances.

"Cardiff have come a long way in a short period of time and perhaps they need to calm down a little because with everything that is planned here in the future and with Sam Hammam in charge anything can happen."
