"We were hard done by - we've had two kicked off the line, had a lot of good approach play and chances for that final cross or pass.

"The goal itself was massively disappointing, we failed to deal with a routine cross and we paid for it.

"It just seems every time we make a mistake at the moment it goes in our net and we can't get the first goal."

"Earnie's shot hit the post and rolled along the line, and then Gabbs' header was cleared off the line.

"I think we took a lot of people by surprise early in the season but lots of people have sussed us out now.

"A lot of teams come here and defend with four across the back and five across the midfield - and Walsall were no exception.

"They offered an attacking threat at set plays but not really anywhere else, but unfortunately we couldn't keep a clean sheet.

"To be fair we only had one or two defensive blips today - it was better than it has been but we just lacked the craft and guile to break them down.

"Walsall were totally defensive but good luck to them. I thought one goal would do it and I fully expected that we would get it but if you can't score a goal you have to keep a clean sheet and we should have cleared the cross which led to their goal.

"We seem to lack confidence up front at the present moment and although Spencer Prior did well in defence we were really mugged when they broke away to score but there was an element of misfortune in the defeat.

"You just have to keep going in times like these and although it was an improved performance there is still plenty of room for improvement. We have stop losing as soon as possible and get more quality in our opponents' box."

"It was a very disciplined performance and I felt it was our day when Walker made a good save late on and although we had a couple of anxious moments towards the end we held out well.

"I felt today that we were in control of the game even though there were times when we didn't have the ball as we always had a spare man available. Cardiff failed to create enough chances even though they were the home team."
