Managers views after City v Derby

Lennie Lawrence

"I am not a quitter - I never have been. I will be preparing for Tuesday's game as normal until I am told otherwise. Whatever happens there is nobody in the game - with the exception of Dario Gradi at Crewe - who has as much experience in this situation as I have.

"This is exactly where I came in all those years ago at Charlton, same division and same position. But what I have to do is start making that experience work. I will not run away from what is happening but stand up and be counted."

"I am grateful for Sam's support which has been unbelievable, and still is, throughout all this. It's not right for me to speculate about my own position but I enjoy his support and have done for all the time I've been here."

"I felt for Lennie Lawrence today because one or two of his players didn't perform. This was a comfortable win in the end for us. We got the three points even though we played nowhere near our best.

"Maybe a few of Lennie's players let him down today. That's football. We all suffer these sort of knocks. What can the manager do when that happens with his players? They're on their own once they cross that white line.

"Cardiff are a better team than the one we saw today. I know they are a better team and I'm sure Lennie will have one or two things to say to his players. Last season Cardiff were a very good side. I think they are still a good side.

"I'm sure things will get sorted out and that at the end of the season they will be at the top end of the table."
