Regular incumbent Neil Alexander will be in Iceland with Scotland as they play the second of their Euro 2004 qualifiers and Margetson is ready to prove himself.

"I can't wait. I have loved being at Cardiff City, I've enjoyed everything about it, but this is what I have been waiting for." He told the Echo.

Margetson was an ever present at Huddersfield last season and was in goal on the two occasions City played the Terriers. He was named in the PFA 2nd division team of the season. He was about to sign a new contract at the McAlpine but the offer was withdrawn and he along with boss Lou Macari left the club. Margetson came to Ninian park in the knowledge that he would be support keeper to Alexander.

"I knew what the situation was when I signed, that Neil was number one and I would have to work hard to earn the shirt. Neil has played so well he has deserved to stay in the team - and I expect him to maintain that form. But I also want to play first-team football and, hopefully, working with goalkeeping coach George Wood, we'll help each other improve. It's been a little frustrating for me sitting on the substitutes bench, but that is only natural. Neil and I are good pals, we get on really well together and I would love to see him earn an international cap when Scotland play Canada next Wednesday. The goalkeeping squad we have, with me Neil and Mark Walton is a strong unit. We work well together. It's better than most if not all in Division Two - and as good as anything in the First Division."

This will be Margetson's second first team game this season, we was in goal at Boston for the Worthington Cup tie. He is looking forward to his first full game at Ninian Park.

"I'm looking forward to that - running out in a Cardiff shirt in front of the home fans. I've played at Ninian Park before, of course, but that's been as the away keeper."

Good luck Martyn, a clean sheet will do nicely.
