Friends last game in charge of the Bluebirds was the 2 – 1 home win over Birmingham City on 2nd October 2012. He issued yellow cards to Mark Hudson and Craig Bellamy, and one for Birmingham’s Curtis Davies.
He also officiated the last league meeting between this weekends opponents Newcastle United on 5th February 2010 at St James’ Park where Newcastle won 5 – 1.
