Matt Green on joining Cardiff City

Young striker Matt Green is still pinching himself after his move from non league football to the Championship. He finds himself in the match day 16 and has three appearances off the bench in the past few weeks.

"I can still scarcely believe it's happening," said Green.

"I signed for Cardiff expecting to play for the reserves, maybe train with the first-team and learn from day-to-day coaching."

The Bath born forward was working for the car auctions in Newport before making the move to Cardiff. City have paid Newport £10,000 for his services.

"I've been given the chance and I'll do everything I can to make the most of it," he said.

"I can still hardly believe I am in a Cardiff City squad who are pressing for the play-offs.

"I've enjoyed my three appearances and I want more."

Green has jumped ahead of Kevin Campbell, Andrea Ferretti and Iwan Redan in the pecking order. With Luigi Glombard out on load at Oldham Green finds himself on the bench with Jason Byrne as next choices after City's front two of Chopra / Thompson (or now Feeney / Thompson).
