Lennie Lawrence
"It was a solid performance and a job well done - after three successive away defeats we needed to stop the rot.

"We've been involved in some terrific free-scoring games so it was pleasing to bounce back and keep a clean sheet after the Crystal Palace debacle.

"Perhaps we didn't deserve to win, but we didn't deserve to lose. Sunderland have some good players and other teams will come here and buckle."

Mick McCarthy
"We have to give respect to sides coming here.

"We have to pick up points where we can and perhaps we get a bit more freedom away from home.

"It was one of those games and you could see by their reaction at the end who was the more pleased with a point. My dressing room is sick because the players are used to winning.

"I think everybody was expecting nine points from the three home games in a row we have but it does not happen like that."
