McCormack pounces like a fox in the box

McCormack pounces
A great run by Eddie Johnson culminated in a shot at goal that Basso could only parry. As the Brazilian dived towards the loose ball he got one hand on top of the ball but McCormack reacted swiftly and instinctively to poke the ball home.

There was just a minute or so left of the 90 when City scored. Prior to that on 70 mins Nicky Maynard had made a similar run to Johnson's, only his effort was too good for the impressive Stuart Taylor in the City goal.

Up until the Bristol goal the game had swung one way then the other. A fairly drab 1st half was probably edged by Cardiff but they lost their way in the second half and Bristol got their nose in front.

That spurred City on though and Gyepes saw a header hit the bar and a stunning diving header from Eddie Johnson hit the post.

It was looking though that it would be a fruitless trip over ther Severn Bridge until McCormack scored his 15th league goal of the season.

In the dying seconds Bristol had a free kick from 19 yards that was saved by Taylor and Cardiff managed a last ditch break that could have resulted in more than the wasted free kick it did produce.

The point was celebrated like a victory for Cardiff fans, making up for the glee on the faces of Reading, Birmingham and Wolves fans in the last couple of months who've nicked points from us. It also smacked the Bristol fans in the metaphoric face as well.

Now City have a run of four home games. Starting this Wdnesday with Watford the visitors to Ninian Park. Quite simply City have to win them all to stay in with a chance of automatic promotion.

City are looking good for a play off place if current form continues. A winning run might put pressure on the top two but I must say Wolves and Birmingham are looking most likely to go onto capture spots 1 and 2.

A quick mention to Stuart Taylor. An excellent debut and a keeper that exudes confidence and presence. His aquisition may play a major part in the next month's worth of fixtures.
