The Scotsman injured his hamstring in the win over Hull in midweek and will stay home as he tries to recover for next week. The official website are reporting that McNaughton hopes not to be out for too long.

That looks to be the only injury worry Jones has as he decides whether to recall Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Aaron Ramsey into the team.

Jones has the luxury of a fit againn Warren Feeney, Joe Ledley, Riccy Scimeca and Trevor Sinclair, the latter could replace McNaughton at full back or Jones could recall Darcy Blake.

Colchester boss Geraint Williams is staring relegation in the face. Colchester are 10 points adrift of safety and surely a defeat against Cardiff would put the Layer Rd outfit into an near impossible position with games running out.

"It's going to be tough for us tomorrow, we and players know that, especially after watching Cardiff's FA Cup quarter-final win over Middlesbrough last weekend," said Williams.

"There is no good time to hit a bad run like the one that we are experiencing at the moment, but at the business end of the season it's a lot tougher.

"We have had a load of injuries and as it stands today I have nine players in the treatment room which is another concern.

"Never mind selection problems, I have to wait to see whether I will have 16 fit players for tomorrow."

Kick off at Layer Rd is at 3:00pm and it's likely to be the last time Cardiff ever play there. Colchester are due to move into a new stadium for next season.
