McPhail suspension gives Jones pause for thought

Steve McPhail picked up his 5th yellow card of the season and will miss the clash against Paul Sturrock's side.

Jones also has a decision to make upfront with Steve Thompson now available after suspension. It's likely Thompson could come into the team with Parry dropping back into midfield allowing Joe Ledley to move inside to cover McPhail's absence.

City have picked up 7 points from 9 in the past week. A win over Plymouth would make it one of the club's best Christmas periods in a very long time.

It is also set to be Kasper Schmeichel's last game before he returns to Manchester City.

"We've lost one with Stephen suspended for a game because of a fifth booking and we've gained one now Steve Thompson has served his three games," said Jones.

"That may mean a reshuffle with Joe Ledley playing in central midfield and Paul Parry back on the wing. We'll make those decisions tomorrow.

"We've had a tiring schedule and had a lot of travelling. Now we have another match coming up fast against Plymouth and we must focus on that.

"Roger Johnson came over to the bench and said he had nothing left in his legs. We have to make sure the players are refuelled and refreshed for New Year's Day."
