Around 2,000 people turned up to help provide the struggling Martyrs with a cash injection.

On the field City started with a strong line up. 9 first team squad members and two triallists. City lined up (4 - 4 - 2)

Konstantopoulos
Comminges Purse Capaldi Smith
Burke Scimeca Mcphail Whittingham
Quincy Kolar

Steve Smith from Rangers and Daniel Kolar drom the Czech Republic were the two triallists.

Peter Whittingham scored the opening goal. A shot from Kolar was well saved and Whittingham was on hand to score.

Kolar was involved in the second, his back heel into the path of Chris Burke set up the Scotsman for an excellent finish.

Then the former U21 Czech international capped a fine performance with a goal of his own on the stroke of half time.

Positives from the game - Kolar looked like he could do a job immediately. Burke was also excellent.

Quincy got pace but lacks the killer touch. Smith was ok, nothing special but solid enough.

First half miss of the half. Steve Mcphail fired over with his right foot in front of an open goal.

2nd half lots of subs, took away the rhythm of the game.

Another highlight was a run by Darren Purse from the half way line that ended with a shot on target that was saved by the keeper. Quincy missed a tap in when he allowed the ball to run lose. I think he thought it was going in anyway but it ran wide.

There was a mini pitch invasion about 30 seconds from the end. About 25 kids ran on, average age about 14, average IQ about the same.
