Mike Riley the referee for Stoke

Last updated : 31 January 2008 By Michael Morris
MIKE RILEY is the man in charge and he'll be assisted by P Kirkup and P Sharp with the Fourth Official A Taylor.

This season he has been in charge of Champions League games in Milan, Moscow and Schalke, League and FA Cup ties and a whole host of Premier League games from Old Trafford to the Emirates and Stamford Bridge to Anfield.

Saturday's game will be his first excursion to the Championship this season but bizzarly in the middle of all the glamour fixtures he has done one League 2 game at Meadow Lane where Notts County were beaten by the MK Dons on Boxing Day.

In 27 games this season he has issued 83 yellow cards and 2 red.

His last Cardiff City game was the 4 - 0 FA Cup defeat at Spurs a year ago and prior to that it was the 3 - 0 defeat at Stoke early last season. The only game that Cardiff have scored in where Riley was in charge was the 5 - 3 defeat at Sheff Utd in 2003. His only one other City game, away at Blackpool in 2002, ended in a 1 - 0 defeat for Cardiff.

He's not what you could call a "lucky referee" for us.
