More 90th minute heartache as Preston level

Cardiff move upto 8th place after tonights game.

An average first half ended with City a goal up. Joe Ledley's deflected effort came after a spanking free kick from Jason Koumas that hit the cross bar

After the break Preston came at City and the Bluebirds retreated and allowed the visitors far too much time and space. The equaliser was no surprise with a shot that Alexander could only get a hand to but not keep out.

You had to fear then that preson would go on and get a win. City's midfield disappered as they dropped deeper and deeper. Preston created chances and found Alexander in good shot stopping form and their own attackers with moon boots on as they had several efforts off target.

Alan Lee replaced Cameron jerome in the second half. I can only assume Cameron had a problem There's been no news yet on what the probloem was.

City's man of the match, Jason Koumas, was the only bright spark we had. He tried to take Preston on, single handedly at times, and his persistence won a free kick outside the box.

Like he did against Macclesfield he pulled off a stunning kick to beat Carlo Nash and to set City up for a victory that looked improbable munutes earluer.

City managed to hold out on until 89 mins and 28 seconds. A goalmouth scramble that involved most of the players on the pitch ended with Sedgewick poking the ball home after City could not clear. There was a clear handball by a Preston player in that final onslaught which was missed by a below par Howard Webb.

As injury time played out all the action was in the Preston goalmouth. Lee and Ricketts went close and with the last kick of the game City got the ball in the Preston net for it to be ruled out for a foul on the keeper.

Both sides will be happy they didn't lose with Preston probably feeling their possession and chances deserved more than just a point.

It's home again on Saturday against 23rd place Crewe.
