More heartache following the City

Somehow before leaving for London I knew what was going to happen.

There were some idyllic thoughts of a had fought win with the team battling to prove the critics wrong. The manager pulling off a masterstroke to trump his host manager and win the game with a telling substitution but in reallity you just knew it would all go wrong.

We saw a 3 - 0 defeat, fans facing up to each other in the stands, verbal abuse hurled at each other, some reports of physical reactions as well. Lots of anti Dave Jones, anti Peter Ridsdale and anti Robbie Fowler chants.

We also heard that a "fan" had verbally abused Peter Ridsdale after the game.

Fowler was on the bench. Finally Jones had dropped him from the starting line up but we still carried the same under achieving midfield.

City competed well for 45 mins. We should have had a penalty but from the resulting play Charlton broke, we gave away a free kick and some comedy defending allowed the home side to score. This was in the first minute of the 4 extra (why?) added at the end of the first half. Before they were up Charlton had scored again. Route 1 football that we did not deal with.

The third goal added the icing on the cake for Charlton and took away any chanced a City comeback despite the Bluebirds having plenty of second half possesion.

If Jones was on thin ice before the game he is now avoiding the cracks that are appearing under his feet.

As I write this in the early hours of Monday mornin there are strong rumours that Jones' tenure maybe about to come to an end.

Keep watching.
