More news on terracing issue

The club though have issued a statement saying that the matter has been in progress since before Christmas.

"To suggest that an application was only submitted yesterday (May 4th 2006) is a distortion of the truth and very disappointing." say the club

Now the FLA have to decide if City can keep the Bob Bank Terrace and Grange End seat free until City build their new stadium. Clubs are allowed three years to improve their grounds to all seater after arriving in the Championship but with City hoping to start builiding a new ground soon it would be a waste to throw money at improving Ninian Park ahead of it being knocked down.

"We only received the detailed proposal for the extension for the use of terracing at Ninian Park from Cardiff City this morning," a spokesman for the Football Licensing Authority told the Western Mail yesterday

"It's hard to say how long a decision will take, it's a case of how long is a piece of string?

"Each case must be carefully considered on its own merits.

"It's up to Cardiff to make their case, they have to prove that making Ninian Park all-seater ahead of next season would be unreasonable for them to do.

"They have to demonstrate that any use of terracing in the future would be just for a set period and that it is essential for them to have that dispensation.

"We will in due course make our recommendation to the Secretary of State on the matter, our decision is usually adhered to."

With season tickets already on sale for the standing areas the club will be hoping their application is successful.
