"Keep the faith. We've come so far, we'll get up there next time," he said after suffering Wembley heartbreak.
Manager Dave Jones deflected questions on his future, stating: "It's not the time for all that now. We're just going to go home and reflect on everything."
Chan - or TG as he is known to Bluebirds' fans - offered a one-word answer when asked by BBC Sport Wales if the club would now struggle to hold on to Jones: "No".
The Malaysian continued: "Whatever it is today, the message to the fans is separate - we'll try again. We'll get up there, alright?
"We've never lost the faith, we've never lost the faith."
In a later interview Malaysian Chan pledged: "When I step in my commitments are always there."
He went on: "We struggled so hard to get to where we were.
"Today was a great day - well, maybe not as great as what we wanted to do, but look at this, we're up at the top, we'll get up there again.
"This is our first experience of this sort of thing. There's a new season coming up, let's just see where we've gone wrong, if we have.
"But at the end of the day there's only one winner, but today there were two.
"Cardiff City to get up there through all its struggles, all its financial struggles - and believe me they were hard - no-one wants to be in this position.
"I promise you one thing, we'll try very hard and I'll do whatever's necessary to get us up there again."
However, Cardiff's future could be difficult, having missed out on the estimated £90m that comes with promotion to the Premier League.
The club has already survived four winding-up orders as Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs demand repayment of a £1.9m debt.
The club's total debt is estimated at £15m, with the new Malaysian investors represented by Chan expected to step in before a fifth trip to the High Court.
Against that backdrop Jones has been courted by other teams, Wales midfielder Joe Ledley is out of contract in the summer and other star players such as Bothroyd are expected to be targeted by top flight clubs.
But as he pondered what lies ahead, Jones has insisted he will match any hunger the players show to redeem themselves by reaching the Premier League at the next opportunity having missed out on a play-off place last season by one goal.
"I certainly know how to bounce back," reflected Jones. "It's whether the players in that dressing room want to bounce back or we go and change it and we find others that do.
"I would like them to try and put it right, but you don't always get what you want in football.
"That's down to the players as well. They've got to show a desire and a hunger to come back and if they don't then you find the ones that have it [hunger].
"We should have been better than we were and we have to bounce back. There's nothing else you can do.
"There are too many teams who have come here before. You've got two choices - we can either sulk about it - we didn't sulk last year - and we can't sulk this year.
"We've just got to make sure we get the players that on occasions can do the job for us."
Midfielder Stephen McPhail hopes Jones will stay, but would understand if Ledley moves on.
"The gaffer's been unbelievable since he's come here and I don't think anyone can question him," commented McPhail.
"He's got better and built and the league position's got better every year so I just hope we can go one more step next year.
"He's a great manager, there's no doubt about it. He hasn't spent so much money in the five years he's here and we're always challenging him, playing some great football and he knows a good player when he sees one.
"Were just gutted we couldn't get over the line.
"Joe's [contract is] up and in the summer and he's got to look after himself, there's no doubt about that, and we hope he stays.
"But the players that have got a year left, we've got to hope that we get another chance to put things right."
Centre-back Mark Hudson echoed McPhail, adding: "I hope we can keep as many bodies as possible together, have a good summer, a good break, and look forward to next season.
"It's vital that Dave Jones stays, he's the one who has driven us here and hopefully we can do it again next season."
