Director Steve Borley said: “The application follows a feasibility study carried out by the club earlier in the summer following City’s confirmed promotion to the Barclays Premier League, also giving fans an initial look at the concept in June.

“If approved in a September planning meeting, work on the development of the Ninian Stand will begin in early October 2013 with planned completion set for July 2014, ready for Cardiff City Stadium to host the UEFA European Super Cup between the winners of this seasons UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.”

“The planning application was submitted to the relevant local authorities on Friday.

“We are extremely grateful for the guidance and support offered to us so far. We seek to make our approval and build the extension to what is a tight time frame.

“This news adds further excitement for everyone currently involved with the football club and this further investment demonstrates once again fantastic commitment from Tan Sri Vincent Tan."
