New stadium. Schedule of events

Last updated : 29 May 2009 By Michael Morris
Ninian Park is currently hosting an End Of Era tournament (more to follow in a later story) as it slowly releases it's grip on Cardiff City FC.

The Cardiff City Stadium across the road has now had it's capacity initially set at 26,828. To get upto that club must host a series of events that pass the necessary safety guldlines with the capacity increasing each time.

The pre season schedule is as follows:

Saturday July 4th - Legends game
Former Cardiff City players will face each other in a Legends game kicking off at 3:00pm. The stadium will be restricted to 50% capacity and tickets costing £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions will go on sale to Ambassadors and season ticket holders initially who will be able to sit in their new season seats.

Sunday July 5th - Open training session
Dave Jones and the Cardiff City squad return for pre season training and will hold an open session in the stadium where all Ambasadors, season ticket holders and Stadium Card Holders (see below) will be able to check out the stadium and watch the players train.

Friday 10th July. Cardiff City v Chasetown
The first match involving the club in the new ground. Kick off 7:45pm. Capacity restricted to 70% and like the legends game tickets are £5 and £2.50 and are initially on sale to Ambassadorsa and Season ticket holders.

Saturday 18th July. Cardiff Blues open day
Our tennants, The Cardiff Blues, will have their own open day.

Wednesday 22nd July. Cardiff City v Celtic
The official opening of the stadium when City face Glasgow Celtic, ko 7:45pm. The stadium is restricted to 90% with again Ambassadors and season ticket holders getting first crack at tickets. These will cost normal new matchday prices.

Saturday 1st August. Cardiff City v Valencia
One week before the new season kicks off City entertain Spanish side Valencia. Kick off 3:00pm. Tickets cost £20 for adults, £10 for over 60's and £5 for the U16's. The stadium will be all full capacity with Ambassadors and ST holders getting first dibs on tickets.

Saturday 8th August - New season

I mention above a Stadium Card. Ambassadors and ST holders will be sent a stadium card towards the end of June. Other fans wishing to attend a pre season event will need to purchase a stadium card.

It's quite difficult to explain in a paragraph the full benfits or implications so please visit the official website at this link to read more about the stadium card and the new ticketing facilities.
