No fight, no guts, no hope

After the stick that Dave Jones and his side received after the surrender to Wolves you would have expected some sort of fightback today.

I was hoping to see the side up and at Scunthorpe from the start.

What did we get? A limp, semi-conscious effort that took 20 mins before we managed an effort on goal.

It looked today as if the players had given up as well.

Ironically it was the player who has been the subject of most critisism this week that scored our goal, Steve McPhail.

The rest of his play was all too similar and it was a surprise that he was given man of the match. Then again who else could have got it? Paul Parry maybe for his subs appearance that contained more passion and effort than most of the others put together.

If Scunthorpe had realised just how poor and dis-spitited we are they might have had a better go at us. At the end they celebrated as if they'd won. We trudged out in near silence, deflated again and not really that bothered. That's how the manager and team have made us feel.

Kasper had little to do and appeared a competent enough keeper. He got close to the ball that saw Scunthorpe score but he shouldn't have needed to have made a save as it was lax defending that allowed their player to shoot.

So another game goes by without a win, unhappy fans leave Ninian Park fearing a fight against relegation.

Next up a trip to Liverpool. That's a carnival game. Nothing matters whatever happens at Anfield.

The next league game is Tuesday week against Crystal Palace.
