No Joe for cup clash

Dave Jones confirmed on Friday afternoon that the game has come a week early for Joe as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Jones then should have the same matchday 16 available as he did at Crystal Palace. His decisions will be whether to put Aaron Ramsey, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Gavin Rae back in the starting line up.

I think he will 100% start with Hasselbaink instead of Steve Thompson. It's in midfield that Jones has to make choices. He has to select four from 6. Steve McPhail will be one of them but he could choose any three of the remaining 5. Whittingham, Scimeca, Sinclair, Rae or Ramsey.

City (possible) Enckleman, McNaughton, Johnson, Loovens, Capaldi, Ramsey, Rae, Whittingham, McPhail, Hasselbaink, Parry.

Subs: Oakes, Purse, Sinclair, Scimeca, Thompson.

Middlesbrough have no fresh injury concerns,

Jeremie Aliadiere serves the third part of a four-match ban, while Chris Riggott and Jason Kennedy have joined Stoke and Darlington respectively on loan until the end of the season.

Tony McMahon (back) and Mohamed Shawky (hamstring) both featured for the reserves in midweek though the latter is highly unlikely to feature this weekend.

Andrew Taylor (foot) is back in training after three months out injured.

The game is at 2:00pm on Sunday. Live on BBC 1.
