No shocks as Lennie names retained list

By Michael Morris
Thursday, 13th May 2004
It had been widely reported that only Spencer Prior and Gavin Gordon would be released.
and so it turned out.

Spencer Prior leaves Cardiff City after 3 years. Gavin Gordon is also set to leave with Lennie telling the player to go and get himself a club. If he struggles to find new employment Lennie will keep the door ajar and will help him all he can. He expects though that Gavin will find a club no problem.

With Layton Maxwell, Scott Young, Mark Bonner and Jason Bowen all departed in previous months the end of season clear out at Ninian Park is more a light dusting.

Martyn Margetson and Gary Croft have both been offered deals while talks are still ongoing with Lee Bullock and York City to finalise his probable transfer to Ninian Park.

"Lee has done well in the games he has played for us and we have an interest in making the move permanent," said Lawrence.

Unless we hear any different Gareth Whalley contines with his contract at Ninian Park.

Croft and Margetson now have to decide if they will accept the deals offered to them.

As far players coming in Lennie has a plan to sign upto 5 players. Ideally he's looking to sign two quality bosmans, in the Robinson / Vidmar mould, two younger players that could cost a transfer fee and probably Lee Bullock.

He is not going to splash out on a big name.

"I would rather strengthen the areas that I think need strengthening, rather than put all my eggs in one basket." Lawrence added.
